PALAVA HOSTS THE MAHARASHTRA STATE VETERANS TABLE TENNIS ASSOCIATION

The Olympic Sports Complex at Palava hosted the Maharashtra Veterans Suhas Kulkarni Memorial State Championship, its first-ever state-level ranking table tennis tournament, last month for the veterans across Maharashtra. The tournament was held in memory of the late Suhas Kulkarni, a renowned table tennis player who represented India at several international championships and unfortunately passed away due to Covid last year.

At Palava, providing care to our senior citizens and encouraging them to live a healthy lifestyle is a constant endeavour. As a result, we partnered with state bodies who recognised Palava’s sports infrastructure as truly world-class for this event, and we organised a tournament for senior citizens from all over the state, not just Palava.

This tournament saw over 200 participants from across the length and breadth of Maharashtra make their way to the Palava City – the participants travelled from Mumbai, Thane, Pune, Nashik, Solapur, Bhandara, Kolhapur, Jalgaon, Ratnagiri, Raigad, Nagpur, Palghar, and Panchvati.

The championship was categorized into Women’s Doubles, Men’s Doubles, Men’s Singles, and Women’s Singles. The Maharashtra Veterans Table Tennis Association awarded the winners a winning prize of INR 1.25 lacs.

Heartiest congratulations to all the winners who made their towns proud across various categories.
